Description
The AW Gear Meters SRZ Helical Gear Flow Meters is constructed of two highly accurate cycloid shaped screw spindles that mesh and rotate inside the cylindrical housing with two overlapping holes in the form of a figure 8, which forms the measuring chamber. The medium flows in an axial direction rotating the spindles without pulsation.
The SRZ helical gear flow meter is highly accurate with wider measuring ranges, and is largely independent of your fluid viscosity. The lower pressure drop compared with other flow metering types makes this meter perfect for measuring polyurethanes and polymer, glues and sealing materials and heavy fuel oils.

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Measuring High Viscosity Liquid Epoxy Resin
The Background: Our customer is a military contractor seeking a flow meter capable of measuring an epoxy with a very high viscosity for a proprietary military application.
The Problem: The epoxy is pushed through tubing using a pneumatic cylinder at a rate of about 2 gallons per minute. The epoxy has a viscosity of about 10,000 cP at room temperature.
The Solution: We recommended the AW Gear Meters Model SRZ helical gear flow meter, a meter designed specifically for high viscosity fluids to keep the pressure drop as low as possible. Even with the helical gears, we had to jump a meter size larger to keep the pressure loss from being above the available pressure provided by the pneumatic cylinder pump. This technology is also capable of handling the pulsing and transient flows you find with slow moving viscous fluids.
