Description
The APG IRU-2000 Level Sensor is an ultrasonic level detector designed for detecting solids and moving objects. Built to mount on walls, ceilings, and other flat surfaces, IRU-2000 transducers are often used for presence/absence detection, object profiling, and more.
The APG IRU-2000 has a range from 1 to 25 feet with liquids and 1 to 10 feet for solids. The sensor has a basic accuracy of ±0.25% of detected range. These ultrasonic sensors are built for use outside of the tank environment. Instead of a threaded fitting, they simply bolt onto a flat surface.
The IRU-2000 level sensors are designed for a variety of applications, and therefore have ample programming options to accommodate many needs. A number of output options are available such as a solid state relay, isolated 4-20mA, RS-485 with 1 NPN trip point, or 4-20mA with 2 NPN trip points.

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Detecting Vehicle Position in a Car Wash
The Background: Our customer is a software developer for automated car washes. They seek a solution for identifying the position of vehicles so individual components of the cart was can be activated.
The Problem: The customer needs a multi-level proximity sensor which can profile vehicles entering the carwash and detect when the vehicle’s bumper, hood, windshield, and other parts pass. The software controls the speed of the track and the dispensary nozzles. The sensor must be able to withstand the water, soap and a range of ambient conditions to which it will be exposed.
The Solution: We recommended the APG IRU-2000 ultrasonic level sensor. Though designed principally to measure level, the IRU-2000 excels at detecting moving objects and is often used as the type of multi-level proximity sensor this application needs. The variety of output options and programmability were main selling points as was the NEMA 4X rated ABS housing with UV inhibitor.
