Weld Quality Testing
Weld quality testing uses methods and tools to ensure the quality and strength of welds in order to prevent the catastrophic failure of defective welds. While the visual inspection of welds is important, ultrasonic flaw detectors are the industry standard for weld testing. Ultrasonic flaw detectors test welds using sound waves to determine the positioning and thickness of welds as well as to identify cracks, voids, and other discontinuities in welds that might lead to material or component failure. Ultrasonic weld testing is fast, efficient, and completely non-destructive; saving time and money while reducing the chance of a weld failing. Ultrasonic weld testing also complies with AWS D1.1 standards.
