Optris PI Connect software package

The Optris PI 1M infrared camera is designed to measure the temperature of metals with a short wavelength of 1μm and a 1kHz frame rate for a faster process. It features a real-time analog output with 1ms response time and offers a variety of temperature measurement ranges. A 1064nm CWL notch filter is available for lenses with focal lengths less than or equal to 1in.

The complimentary Optris PI Connect Software offers extensive analysis of measurement data both on and off line. It can be customized to suit the demands of even the most unique applications. Features include automatic process and quality control, video recording, snap shot, and remote control of the camera. The PI connect software is necessary to interpret measurement results and is compatible with all netbooks, notebooks, and computer systems using Windows 7, 8, and 10.

Accurate Temperature Measurement of Small Metal Components

The Background: Our customer is a parts supplier for automobile manufacturers. They seek a means of testing the production process for a certain family of parts to ensure the meet quality control standards.

The Problem: Some of the parts made by our customer include metal components which need to be heated to a certain range for a specified period of time to reach optimal strength. These components are often small and irregularly shaped making it difficult for infrared thermometers to focus on them for accurate results.

The Solution: We recommended the Optris PI 1M. This narrow spectral band thermal imaging camera is a great way to get small spot size resolution and overall part uniformity, specifically on low emissivity high temperature metal parts. Customers can also document in greater detail allowing them to achieve tighter control and better quality.
