The Emerson PACSystems RSTi-EP network adapter is the head module for the RSTi-EP remote I/O system, to which up to 64 active function and I/O modules can be connected and powered. The maximum amount of modules per network adapter is 82 when you include passive modules (no fieldbus communication): power-feed, potential distribution, and empty placeholder modules (3 passive modules is the most that can be placed in consecutive slots).
The web server only registers modules that can communicate on the system bus, therefor passive modules are not displayed in the screen view. Because of this, the numbering of the modules in the web server view may deviate from the count in the actual station.
The network adapter is available in four communication options, all of which feature a Micro USB port for connecting to a system-independent web server application so that you can access all diagnostic, status value, and parameter information as well as simulate or force connected modules.
PROFIBUS Network Adapter (EPXPBS001)
It has a Sub-D socket and two bus address dials. It's certified by the PROFIBUS user organization and supports all services in accordance with DP-V1 specifications. It has an I/O data size of 256 bytes and uses PME or GSD file configuration tools.
PROFINET Scanner Network Adapter (EPXPNS001)
It has two Ethernet ports and an integrated switch. It's certified by the PROFINET user organization and supports Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) client mode operation as well as daisy-chain, line (bus), star, or ring topologies. It has an I/O data size of 1024 bytes and uses PME or GSDML configuration tools.
EtherCAT Network Adapter (EPXETC001)
It has two Ethernet ports and an integrated switch. It's certified by the EtherCAT Technology Group and supports daisy-chain and line (bus) topologies. It has an I/O data size of 1024 bytes and uses an EDS file configuration tool.
Modbus Network Adapter (EPXMBE001)
It has two Ethernet ports and an integrated switch. It's a Modbus TCP participant developed according to IEC 61158, and supports daisy-chain, line (bus), and star topologies. It has an I/O data size of 2048 bytes and uses auto configuration.
