Description
The Blancett FloClean turbine flow meter comes with a tri-clover end fitting for pre-process food and beverage applications that require high accuracy without 3-A approval, or with a sanitary clamp end for use in clean-out-of-place (COP) and sanitize-out-of-place (SOP) applications. Their 316L stainless steel construction provides a durable and cost efficient flow measurement system that offers excellent accuracy and repeatability.
The meter's output signal is a sine-wave that is proportional to volumetric flow. With optional Blancett electronics, the Blancett FloClean turbine flow meter provides local flow rate and volume totalization and will interface with most displays, PLCs, and computers.
Operating Principle
Fluid entering the meter first passes through an inlet flow straightener that reduces its turbulent flow pattern. Fluid then passes through the turbine, causing the turbine to rotate at a speed proportional to fluid velocity. As each turbine blade passes through the magnetic field generated by the meter's magnetic pick-up, an AC voltage pulse is generated. These pulses provide an output frequency that is proportional to volumetric flow.

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Liquefied Egg Mixture Monitoring
The Background: Our customer is a processed food producer with a number of different egg-based products and is looking for a flow meter to track flow rates of liquefied egg mixtures.
The Problem: When handling food products, there are strict regulatory requirements for wetted material surface quality and cleaning to ensure the product remains safe to consume. Therefore, a meter that meets these sanitary requirements is necessary.
The Solution: We recommended the Blancett FloClean turbine flow meter paired with a Blancett B3000 flow monitor. The FloClean comes standard with tri-clamp sanitary fittings. This allows the meter to be quickly and easily removed for out of place cleaning (COP). Common in the egg and dairy industry, the meter also includes the 3A sanitary rating. The FloClean is shipped from the factory calibrated for clean water so it will need to be field calibrated for the egg mixtures. The B3000 electronics package simplifies field calibrations, allowing for a simple factional offset to be applied to the displayed readings.
Pharmaceutical Water Batching
The Background: Our customer is a pharmaceutical company looking for a means to economically batch and fill deionized water for use in drug processing.
The Problem: The key meter parameter with batching applications is repeatability. A batch amount can be augmented to compensate for accuracy but batches of same size need to be consistent.
The Solution: The Blancett FloClean is an obvious choice for its 0.1% repeatability, 1% accuracy and low cost when compared to other technologies that are suitable for sanitary, non-conductive fluids.
The FloClean is easily paired with the KEP BatchTROL II batch controller for creating custom batch amounts. The KEP can then control a pump or valve directly.
