Bently Nevada Ranger Pro Vibration Sensor is a wireless vibration sensor package used by plant managers and operators in the oil & gas, power generation and industrial markets. The Ranger Pro enables plant operators to optimize the reliability of low- and medium-criticality machines.
It is a case-mounted seismic sensor solution for roller element bearing (REB) machines. Featuring a locally available battery and hazardous ratings, and ISA100 Wireless Network Protocol, Ranger Pro compliments your predictive management program with cost effective data collection.
Ranger Pro applications include:
The Background: Our customer manufactures large, industrial planers used in commercial saw mills. The seek a means to monitor vibration and temperature on the 18 sets of bearings used in their planers.
The Problem: The heavy work required from industrial planers leaves them susceptible to issues cause by vibration which can damage bearings throwing the cutting blades out of alignment and ruining the wood being milled. Vibration is not the only concern, however, as heat can also build up in worn bearing causing which can also lead to alignment issues as well as damage to the planer.
The Solution: We suggested the GE Bently Nevada Ranger Pro vibration sensor which can monitor vibration on one or three axes and includes temperature monitoring of the bearings as well. The Ranger Pro allows the user to receive data from a Honeywell gateway via Modbus. These robust sensors satisfy the customer's needs.
