Description
Watlow Wire Wound Element Silicone Rubber Flexible Heaters are rugged yet thin, lightweight, and flexible. With Watlow flexible heaters, you can put the heat where it's needed and, in the process, improve heat transfer, speed warm-ups, and decrease wattage requirements. Fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber gives your Watlow heater dimensional stability without sacrificing flexibility. Because very little material separates the element from the part, heat transfer is rapid and efficient.
These flexible, silicone rubber Watlow heaters are wire-wound and can generate watt densities up to 80 W/in² (12.5 W/cm²) depending upon application temperature. At just 0.055 inches thick, these heaters can be designed to almost any shape and size, including 3-D geometries, to conform to your equipment. The silicone rubber material is moisture and chemical-resistant providing longer heater life and making it easy to bond or attach to your part through the use of vulcanizing, adhesives, or fasteners.
Silicone Rubber Flexible Watlow Heater Applications:
- Freeze protection and condensation prevention for many types of instrumentation and equipment
- Medical equipment such as blood analyzers, test tube heaters, etc.
- Computer peripherals such as laser printers
- Curing of plastic laminates
- Photo processing equipment
- Semiconductor processing equipment

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Heater for Guitar Bending
The Background: Our customer is a luthier looking for a heater to use when shaping the sides of guitars he crafts.
The Problem: Shaping guitars is an art that requires the application of precise heat for precise lengths of time. Too little heat and the wood can crack when bent. Too much heat and the wood can become brittle.
The Solution: We recommended a Watlow Silicone Rubber Heater which is an ideal solution as is has the flexibility to fit snugly against the wood. These heaters are available in a wide range of sizes and watt densities and are easily wired into a simple control system.
Heating Outdoor Electrical Boxes
The Background: Our customer is an integrator for large outdoor operations and seeks a means of maintaining temperatures inside an electrical box that is exposed to very cold temperatures.
The Problem: Although the equipment inside the box is rugged, ambient temperatures can reach well below standard operating conditions. Also, the control box doesn't have much extra room to add heating devices.
The Solution: We recommended the Watlow Wire Wound Rubber Heater which is rugged yet thin, lightweight, and flexible. These heaters can be designed to almost any shape and size, are moisture and chemical-resistant, and attach easily to most surfaces.
